On 11/7/17, ILEA hosted Embassy Budapest's monthly Women’s Networking Salon, an initiative to bring together Hungary’s leading women to discuss important topics and to build community. This session featured two officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, who were in Hungary conducting an ILEA training on preventing trafficking in persons and domestic violence. The former chair of the Hungarian NGO NANE, which provides support to battered women and children and advocates for policy reform to reduce violence against women, also joined the panel. In a vibrant 90-minute discussion, participants shared best practices in combatting violence against women, including the valuable role that civil society can play in protecting victims and assisting police and the importance of self-reflection and analysis by police to improve their practices.
