HSI - Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation

This comprehensive course delved into the critical issues of human trafficking and child exploitation, exploring coercion for economic or sexual exploitation and the reliance of organizations on long-term exploitation for continued profits. Participants gained an overview of U.S. law enforcement's dedicated efforts to combat human trafficking, encompassing the recruitment, harboring, transporting, provision, or obtaining of a person for sex trafficking, labor, or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion, for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.

The Child Exploitation segment provided participants with insights into U.S. law enforcement's global efforts to combat these crimes. It covered an introduction to child pornography crimes, U.S. laws, terms, and definitions, an overview and profile of the child molester, and instruction on investigative internet tools for law enforcement. The course employed interactive class lectures incorporating video and other media, along with practical group exercises that fostered international teamwork to address in-class projects or assignments.
