ILEA Budapest hosted the first ILEA Roswell Export Course from May 21, 2018-June 1, 2018 for students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. During this Executive Policy and Development Symposium on Countering Violent Extremism and Crisis Leadership, participants developed a deeper knowledge of leadership principles and the issues of violent extremism. These leadership skills were applied during a robust simulation exercise focusing on the strategic challenges of countering violent extremism and terrorism. Participants were able to explore case studies that showcased effective strategies for intelligence, analysis and investigation of terrorist incidents. They examined best practices of cooperation between law enforcement and community leaders to effectively counter violent extremism. As a capstone project, participants were challenged to develop a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary strategy, in compliance with international human rights standards and the rule of law, to effectively counter the spread of violent extremism and prevent acts of terror.
