On December 12, CBP’s Border Crisis Management (BCM) course successfully concluded.
This nine-day training aimed to provide an overview of incident management strategies and practices applicable at or between ports of entry. The course addressed critical events stemming from migration influxes or natural disasters that could threaten national security or disrupt border enforcement operations in land border environments.
Reinforced through classroom exercises, the curriculum
covered a wide range of topics and activities essential for managing critical events, including:
Identifying and assessing critical events
Planning and response strategies
Interview techniques and interdiction methods
Drone operations, recovery, and evidence exploitation
Intelligence gathering and evidence preservation
Officer safety, medical management, crowd control, communication, and partnerships
The course encouraged active interaction between instructors and participants, fostering an exchange of techniques and best practices for addressing both critical events and daily enforcement challenges in border environments.
