Investigator in Units for Drugs, Drug Directory-DITN-DOC Kosovo Police

Kosovo Police, Directorate of DHTN has had constant contacts and cooperation with the DEA in some cases in the previous time and due to that has caught suspects and destroyed criminal groups. In  April-June of  2017, operation resulted in the arrest of 5 suspect persons (4 arrested persons in Kosovo and 1 arrested person in New York, USA) and the seizure of the following evidences as: 15 AK47 automatic weapons; 3 other cartridges; 1 anti-tank weapon; a 9x19 pistol; 167 bullets  7.62 mm, 1 air rifle; 2 vehicles, Audi A3 and BMW x5;  64370 euros (cash) and 7 mobile phones. The case: 2017-Ocean, in cooperation with the FBI-in gathering important information about some suspects residences in Kosovo and USA. 

Investigator, Mr. Xhavit Gashi has shown extraordinary successes in crime fight, especially drugs and showed cooperation in information’s exchanging with regional partners involved in the case, as well as other security institutions and as a result 400 kg of cocaine were seized in Kosovo by a police operation in May, 2021. This was as a result by experiences and trainings gained in cooperation with the DEA at ILEA. Cooperation which we do strongly believe that will continue in the future as well.

This police operation was initially preceded through the Italian Police by cooperation with the DEA and cooperation with the Albanian Police authorities too, a quantity of 400 kg of Cocaine was confiscated placed in a Container with Chicken meat camouflaged in packages similar to product originated from Brazil via Kosovo by sea and the final destination was suspected to be EU countries.

7 suspect individuals have been arrested in Kosovo. Investigations are ongoing to capture and destroy the criminal group and the ocean line as well that aims to supply drugs in Western Balkans countries. Due to this, cooperation with the DEA will be our priority in the future.
